ZF TRW Global Electronics will drive the future of advanced safety and automated driving from New Headquarters

  • New building located in Detroit suburb of Farmington Hills will serve as ZF TRW Global Electronics Headquarters

  • Will house more than 600 electronics experts with full component and vehicle testing capability across the driver assist, occupant safety and Radio Frequency electronics product lines

     

ZF TRW, the Active and Passive Safety Technology Division of ZF AG, will further enhance the capabilities of its Global Electronics business with its new Headquarters building.

The new headquarters feature 171,000 square feet of office and laboratory space in a state of the art building environment.  ZF TRW is expected to complete occupancy of the new building in the first half of 2016.

Mark Stewart, executive vice president, operations and chief operating officer for ZF TRW,  said: “The incredible growth of our electronics product portfolio, and in particular our driver assist systems such as the automotive cameras that are designed and developed at the current Farmington Hills locations, have brought about this exciting opportunity. We look forward to continuing our journey in this community as we develop the next generation of electronics products for the global auto industry.”

Those products include ZF TRW’s S-Cam family of automotive cameras offering both a single lens version and an innovative Tri-cam three lens version that support  the more stringent advanced safety test protocols and semi to fully automated driving functions. ZF TRW functions supported by its camera and radar technologies include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, emergency steering assist, and collision mitigation systems among others. 

As Ken Kaiser, ZF TRW Vice President of Global Electronics Engineering and site lead executive for the new Headquarters explains, “we are pleased to embark upon our next phase of expansion and opportunity for this business. Our very talented engineers and technicians will have even greater opportunities as we develop products in our new lab and vehicle test facilities. We will also continue to look for new talent as growth continues and the new headquarters will give us greater capacity to do so.   

 

ZF TRW is a leader in the design, development and supply of advanced safety electronics products. These include driver assist environmental sensing and control systems (cameras, radars and safety domain electronic control units), occupant safety electronics (crash sensors and airbag control units), and radio frequency products (Tire Pressure Monitoring and Remote and Passive Keyless Entry systems) as well as advanced electronics for chassis products such as electric steering and electronic brake control systems.
