TRW Automotive has been awarded the seat belt business for the next generation of General Motors pickup and sport utility vehicles. TRW will supply product for various General Motors models including the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups, and the Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade sport utility vehicles. This contract further solidifies TRW as the world's number one supplier of seat belt systems.

TRW has also signed separate agreements to supply future model General Motors passenger cars with vehicle stability control (VSC) systems. These active safety systems have evolved from TRW's proven anti-lock braking system technologies. They provide stability and traction control capabilities along with ABS braking on a range of vehicles including 4x4 vehicles with open differential drivelines. GM models supplied will include the Cadillac DeVille, Buick LeSabre, Chevrolet Impala and Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Convenience Technologies

TRW Automotive has also received contracts to supply tire pressure monitoring technology for the abovementioned next generation General Motors pickup and sport utility vehicles. This new business will establish the company as a major North American supplier of direct tire pressure monitoring technology. TRW is developing the technology, known as the Entire Solution(TM), in co-operation with its partner, Michelin.

"We are very pleased that TRW Automotive will be providing additional advanced safety and convenience technologies for the future car and light truck lineup for General Motors," said John C. Plant, TRW Automotive president and CEO. "This will be one of the first high volume applications of our direct tire pressure monitoring technology, and the vehicle stability control business further cements our position as a leading supplier of VSC for both light trucks, SUVs and cars."
